Endowment
This endowment was established to honor the life of Donna Bethel by her children. To honor this gift to Daystar, we are committed to building our endowment for the future needs of Daystar’s ministry.
The Barbara Thomas Scholarship
As a way for Barbara’s warm spirit of generosity to live on, this scholarship helps support a family facing cancer. Barbara was a huge Daystar cheerleader attending over 20 Evening in December fundraisers. This scholarship began at the 2017 event to honor the vibrant, gracious life of Barbara (wife of Monty Thomas, mother of Sharon Kintzler and counselor David Thomas).
The Robert Coughlin Memorial Scholarship
Hopetown Retreats with Daystar were an important part of Robert’s summers for several years. He was known for his kindness to others and for taking time to have conversations with students and staff alike. It was something he looked forward to each summer. To honor Robert's memory, a scholarship fund has been created at Daystar Counseling Ministries to help send students to this life-changing retreat each summer.
The James 1:27 Fund
A Daystar friend who experienced the loss of a parent at a young age has a heart for widows and their children. This fund supports grieving children by helping provide the counseling she wishes she could have had on her journey. “Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and windows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.” James 1:27
The Love Fund
A generous mother started this fund to cover the cost of three initial counseling sessions for families who find themselves in the midst of a traumatic, life-changing event.
Noel & Molasses Fund
This fund has been established in loving memory of our original pet therapists who welcomed kids into Daystar’s doors day after day with comforting affection and cheer…Noel the Maltese and Molasses the Old English Sheepdog.
The Lee Boyd Walker Fund
This fund has been established in memory of Lee Boyd Walker to help Daystar continue building into the lives of young men in the Nashville community.
The Christian Magargee Scholarship
Pepper Brown established this scholarship in memory of Christian Sean Magargee so that a young man can attend a life-changing week at Hopetown who would not be able to afford it otherwise.
Daystar’s Covenant Fund
This fund was established in response to the March 27, 2023 tragedy at The Covenant School in Nashville so we could offer counseling at no charge for Covenant families. *We are grateful to share that this project is currently funded and we are not accepting further gifts at this time.
