Further Words from Daystar Aug 15, 2017

August 15, 2017

Dear Daystar Friends and Family,

We've been following the reports in the media regarding the lawsuit filed against Brentwood Academy and that mentions Daystar's relationship with the young man called "John Doe." We are taking this situation seriously, and we wanted you to hear a little more from us on the situation.

First and foremost, we want you to know our hearts are breaking for the boy, his family, and all involved in this situation. We also want you to know that we steadfastly stand with children and families in crisis...not only this family but every child and family who walks through our doors who are hurting. We stand with both compassion and professionalism. As followers of Christ, we believe our faith should always guide us to truth and healing, never to further harm.

When reporting any type of abuse, know that our first priority is to protect children, regardless of the school or community in which they're involved. Our entire staff has been trained in how to respond, and we report to authorities immediately and in the spirit and to the letter of the law.

We are very thankful that our work with children and families in the community for over 30 years has created long-term, supportive relationships with a wide variety of schools, churches, and other organizations throughout Middle Tennessee and beyond. No relationship would ever stand in the way of our first priority—offering hope to each child and family who has come to us in need.

Our heartfelt commitment and our mission since 1985 is always to protect and advocate for children and families who are hurting, with compassion, professionalism, and integrity. We have been doing so for 30 years, and, God willing, will be for 30 more.  We believe it is our calling as both professional counselors and followers of Christ. We hope you will join us in praying for this boy, his family, and all involved in this situation.
