A September Thank You 2016
Always We Begin Again. It's the title of a little book about the Benedictine way of life...a way of living and working and loving that was laid out in a monastic setting, but calls to us now. In our daily lives. At home and at Daystar.
Always we begin again. This year, we're beginning our groups the day after Labor Day. We'll have 23 groups, ranging from 2nd through 12th grades. We're starting this fall with twelve full time counselors, four counseling interns, four office staff, three full-time development and two development interns: more staff than has ever been housed in our little yellow house. We're currently serving 1400 families. Those families are walking through our doors in search of hope.
They're struggling with death. Divorce. Bullying. Anxiety. Depression. Social skills issues. Any manner of things that can cause any one of us to long for a new beginning.
Always we begin again.
It is our honor to remind each child—each family that walks through our doors that there is hope. There are new mercies every morning, and we have a God who sticks closer to us in the struggles and in the mercies than a brother. He is with us. He makes all things new, including us. Thank you for your part in our ministry...in our beginning this fall.
We are privileged to share this journey and this beginning with you.
"The Life we are given to live must be loved, whatever it brings;
The good we are taught must be put into practice, whatever our circumstances.
Humility is the inner attitude of indifference to oneself and freedom from oneself...
We must prefer nothing to the art of caring for others."
John McQuiston II, Always We Begin Again
