A May Thank You 2016

Every summer at Hopetown, we have one song that becomes the song that we sing the most...our theme song, you might call it.  It's not planned ahead of time.  It emerges.  It emerges much like Melissa's teaching...based on the kids who are a part of camp that particular week, based on where their hearts are, and based, more than anything else, on the leading of God's spirit.

Last summer, our theme song was We Will Feast in the House of Zion by our friend, Sandra McCracken.  The chorus goes like this:

We will feast in the house of Zion.

We will sing with our hearts restored.

He has done great things, we will say together.

We will feast and weep no more.

As one boy commented last summer, "I know the song was written about heaven, but it sure sounds a lot like Hopetown, too."

These next few weeks, we'll be busy preparing for kids to make their way to New Concord, Kentucky for Hopetown.  We'll also be preparing for another group of kids to make their way to the Daystar house for our day camps for boys and girls.  In the midst of all of that, counselors will continue to be in the office offering counseling throughout the summer months.  We'll all be busy at work, following God's leading, doing our best to remind the kids and families involved of the truth found in this song.

We would be honored for you to pray for our summer...for safety, for the kids to have fun, and to be reminded of God's love and goodness in the mist of whatever they're going through.  Some are in the midst of great loss.  Some are finishing terribly difficult school years.  Some are living in families that are struggling.  All—every child—every one of us needs these truths.  We need to be reminded that God is good—is present with us in the midst of those things.  We get to say that together—at Hopetown, at day camps, and in the Daystar house that He has done great things.  And there will be a day when we can feast and weep no more.  Our prayer is that, this summer, Hopetown and Daystar will be places these kids can catch a small glimpse of that great truth.

We're honored you have chosen to be a part of Daystar.  We're humbled by your generosity.  And we're grateful to speak together to so many kids and families of God's goodness and nearness.
