Dear Friends,

Summer is quickly approaching and at Daystar that mean we're busily preparing for our summer camps.  This year, we'll have five day camps at our offices and seven sleep away camps at Hopetown, where we'll have approximately 120 kids ranging from 2nd through 12th grades.

An important part of all of our camps is our leadership development.  Each spring, we ask a select number of high school children who we believe are ready to serve in this way to be a part of our summer leadership.  They help at younger kids camps, making meals, playing together, worshipping together, and helping to lead groups.  It's an enriching opportunity for both the kids they serve and for them.

These are one high school students' words about camp on her application to lead:

"Hopetown has truly formed me into the person I am today. At Hopetown I learned what Christianity looked like outside of a church setting, and I learned so much about love from the interns I had. I looked at Hopetown interns with so much admiration and to this day value the lessons I have learned from camp counselors. I never would have thought college age girls could plant seeds of Jesus in me in one week, but every summer at camp I am reminded they can. I truly believe in Hopetown's missions and would be more than honored to love younger campers the way I have been so dearly loved by Hopetown interns. Each summer I witness first-hand the impact our little camp has on people's lives, and each summer I see God unfurling big plans in New Concord, Kentucky. Nothing reminds me how great our Jesus is, than experiencing what He is doing at Hopetown and I would be so thankful to continue to play a part in the journey."

Thank you for being a part of this journey with her...and with us.  You are continuing to make a tremendous difference in the lives of kids in Nashville and Kentucky.

With much gratitude,

The Daystar Staff
